Description
Courtney’s 63-page ebook, North Texas Edible Wild Plant Basics, is designed as a friendly introduction to 55 of the best wild edibles that grow in North Texas. Learn about the basics of identification and use, while getting to know these wonderful and useful plants like new friends.
When Courtney first began teaching classes about 12 years ago, she would compile a list of the edible plants they saw during class that day, with some basic information and a photo for each plant, and then send that to class participants to help them retain what they had learned. After many classes, which added more and more plants over the years, this document evolved into this ebook in its current form!
There’s a photo for each plant, but it’s not meant to be a thorough identification guide with lots of photos or detailed botanical descriptions — it’s meant to be an introduction to many wild edibles, with digestible amounts of information, and to be used as an adjunct to the more extensive field guides that are already available. Although focused on North Texas, the applicable range of this book also extends to East Texas, the Texas Hill Country, parts of West Texas, and southern Oklahoma, as well as many other parts of the country and even throughout the world, for the more widespread wild edible species.
