Description
Spring in East Texas is the best time of the year to focus on the abundant variety of edible wild greens and flowers. It’s a time when you can eat bowls of wild green salads topped with edible flowers, drink fresh green smoothies, and wildharvest nutritious and medicinal herbs and flowers for herbal teas. Flowers add variety to our diets, and most modern people have no idea how many species of flowers are edible, delicious and nutritious, and also add a colorful feast for the eyes to our springtime meals. Wild greens and flowers are more nutrient dense than their cultivated counterparts, and offer a variety of healthful phytonutrients and other medicinal elements.
You will see and learn over a dozen of the best wild edibles in our area, along with identification tips and the opportunity to try them out for yourself! Hands-on experience is the best way to learn and remember what you learned in the long term, so it can serve you later as you continue your foraging adventures.
